NYFW RECAP

3:10 PM

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

As NYFW came and went it brought with it some fabulous designs. Metallic, fur, and bold prints dominated the runway from February 6th to 13th. My guess is that these trends will impact our future wardrobes in a major way.
METTALIC
(Rodarte)
That’s right, metallic. Should we have seen this coming? I for one was pleasantly shocked. From Rodarte to Alice and Olivia, the trend is undeniable. What are your thoughts on the metallic? Caught off guard or expectation met?
And speaking of Rodarte…
STAR WARS
Lucasfilm and Disney paired up with Kate and Laura Mulleavy to create these one of a kind masterpieces. The jeweled upper half is reminiscent of what my favorite childhood princess would wear. Mixed with the flowing chiffon Star Wars portraits, its impossible not to be whisked away into a fantasyland. I predict that in a few months time we’ll see many a flowing t-shirt adorned with the likes of Luke Skywalker and c3po on the racks of Forever 21. Happy shopping, fashion nerds. As the New York Post put it, “may the fierce be with you.”
THE STATEMENT COAT

These designers have shown us that there IS a way to beat the polar vortex. With bold prints and fabulous furs of course!
DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: ALICE + OLIVIA
Bold printed designs, flowing metallic dresses (metallic strikes again), and the fairytale theme of the preview. I’m having trouble catching my breath. Stacey Bendet used the aesthetic of the modern, sophisticated woman and added some eccentric fantasy elements to create what is, in my opinion, the best ready-to-wear show of the week.
